Final Results January Activity Challenge 2021

The winner right from the word GO was Gavin GM0GAV from his country QTH between Perth and Dundee. Its a very nice quiet QTH and I dont think it would be wrong to say that Gavin can hear the grass growing. I have had the pleasure of operating from Gavin's in some of the major Contests. Gavin made 166 countries and states: I missed KL7 and ZP.... well he didnt miss much more. From Tony in Rotuma 3D2AG/P, DU, FK4 & JD1 in the pacific. Gav also worked almost all of South America and a goodly number of African and Middle East / Asia countries. So well done Gavin. I couldnt help but notice that Gav got off to an early great start and I wonder if he just caught the last of a period of great propagation just around Christmas time. A case of the early bird catches the worm.

Trailing with 150 DXCC worked during January was Robert GM3YTS, followed by Lionel G5LP on 137. Worthy of note is the score of young David 2M1DWK with a great score of 94 with low power and SSB only.

Congratulations to the winners. Quite a feat in my opinion at this point in the Sunspot Cycle. I think if I remember correctly I was only
around the 170 mark for the entire year of 2020.

Thanks to everybody who took part. In the end 31 callsigns are represented. I hope you all enjoyed the chase as much as me. Perhaps
we will do it again next year unless anybody has a different suggestion.
