GS8VL is the Club Callsign of GMDX Group and the callsign is activated by a number of members each year.
Iain Sinclair, GM8VL, the original holder of this callsign, became a silent key in January 2014, just a few months before his 100th Birthday.
His daughter Hilli has kindly consented to his call being reassigned to GMDX Group.
We are proud to have this callsign active, in fond remembrance of Iain.

For the avoidance of doubt, here is how it works:
1. If you are a GMDX Member and wish to activate the GS8VL club callsign for a month/mode, please send request via email to current licence holder, Malcolm, GM3TAL, qrv@gm3tal.radio who will keep a central rota.
2. The rota will be posted on qrz.com and updated there on a monthly basis or as any changes or new requests are received.
3. Operators are responsible for sending logs direct to Charles, M0OXO, in a format suitable for LOTW. Please do not attempt to upload files to LOTW yourself- Charles is the LOTW account holder for the call and will upload your file.
4. Send a copy of your log file to GM3TAL. This will be used as a backup.
5. Send a short report of your operations to GM3TAL who will make a quarterly compilation for publication in the GMDX Digest.
